Building Schools and Health Centres

At Kamili Center, we work with Kamili 3 to build schools and health centers. There is a significant need for a school building program in Africa. Many existing buildings are in such poor condition that they become uninhabitable during the rainy season and are dangerously close to collapse. Our mission is to build modern facilities to provide safe and conducive learning environments.

Each year, Kamili Center receives hundreds of applications from rural villages and international communities seeking help to rebuild their local schools. We consider the dilapidated state of current school buildings and the community’s readiness to fully participate in constructing their new classrooms. We aim to transform these old schools into modern, safe educational facilities.

Health Centre and Water Projects

Our health center and water projects include several key improvements:

  1. Re-flooring inside the center and the outside verandah waiting area
  2. Re-plastering both inside and outside the center
  3. Re-roofing with a tin roof
  4. Providing a new ceiling throughout the facility

 

Equipment Provided to Health Centres

The equipment provided to health centers typically includes:

  • Ward beds with mattresses
  • A side cupboard and drip stand for each bed
  • Baby cots with mattresses
  • Delivery equipment
  • Sterilizer
  • Adult scales
  • Wound dressing kits
  • Microscope and lab reagents
  • Refrigerator

Tools and Seeds for School Farms

We also provide tools and seeds to support school farms, fostering agricultural education and sustainability.

By working together with communities, Kamili Center helps to rebuild and improve essential infrastructure, ensuring a better future for schools and health centers in Africa.

 
 

Our Suntainability Initiatives

  • No Poverty: Poverty and access to education are closely linked, as education can be a pathway out of poverty. Our school-building projects are effectively lifting children and their families out of extreme poverty.

  • Good Health and Wellbeing: For people to lead healthy and productive lives, they need access to affordable and good healthcare and the knowledge to maintain good health. We refurbish and re-equip rural health centers, ensuring that all family members can stay healthy enough to allow the children to attend school rather than having to work in the fields.

  • Quality Education: Access to quality education is crucial in empowering children to become active participants in transforming their society. It is key to better jobs and hope for the future.

  • Gender Equality: Investing in girls’ and women’s education is one of the most effective ways to achieve positive sustainable change in the world. Our projects have enabled hundreds more girls to attend school and go on to further education. Some married women have returned to school, while others are being educated through membership in women’s groups.

  • Decent Work and Economic Growth: The economic benefit of education is undeniable. Education is seen as an investment for the individual and for society. Our projects offer a bright future both for children and for Africa.

  • Reduced Inequalities: Equitable access to education leads to a greater positive impact on society. Our projects have significantly reduced maternal and infant mortality rates in the benefiting communities, improved access to education for children and trade for adolescents with disabilities, and helped lift whole families out of extreme poverty.
